Mobile Technology and Honeywell transform METRO’s logistics operations with cutting-edge technology solutions

Our collaboration with METRO (METRO Cash & Carry και My market), one of the most dynamic and fast-growing wholesale companies in Greece, proves the power of technology, when applied with strategic precision, deep expertise, and unwavering customer focus.

The Challenge
Operating 24/7, METRO processes thousands of orders daily through its state-of-the-art distribution centres, supplying “My Market” stores across Greece. High expectations for accuracy, speed, and uninterrupted operations in a multi-shift environment, demanded technology that could ensure:
• Continuous uptime with no disruptions
• Significant reduction in order-picking errors
• End-to-end traceability across all processes
• A better working experience for employees in high-demand environments

This was not just a technical challenge, but also an organizational one: how to integrate new technologies into existing WMS infrastructure, without disrupting business continuity?

The Solution
Leveraging its expertise in complex implementations, Mobile Technology designed and delivered an end-to-end solution, powered by Honeywell’s latest-generation devices.
More than 3000 Honeywell devices were deployed, including:
CK65: Rugged mobile computers with long battery life and ergonomic design
EDA52: Ultra-light, versatile PDAs for real-time data capture
RT10: Robust Android tablets for mobile logistics and monitoring
Voice 700x: Advanced voice-picking systems enabling hands-free workflows, significantly boosting speed and reducing fatigue

This wasn’t just about installing new equipment. It was about delivering a holistic implementation approach, ensuring seamless integration into METRO’s environment and maximizing performance. Mobile Technology handled the full configuration and integration with existing WMS systems, ensuring compatibility and operational continuity.
At the same time, we conducted intensive training sessions (complete with hands-on testing in real working conditions) for end users and warehouse supervisors, ensuring full adoption from day one. And of course, our support didn’t stop there: we continue to provide ongoing after-sales support, rapid troubleshooting, and continuous solution optimization based on field feedback.

The Result
The new solution delivered immediate, measurable results. Order-picking errors dropped significantly thanks to voice guidance and fast, accurate scanning. Employee productivity improved and over 150 users now enjoy better ergonomics and a smoother daily workflow. System uptime is uninterrupted, enabled by the robustness and reliability of the Honeywell equipment.
It was a complete upgrade that made METRO faster, more precise, and more agile.
